Our new facility isn’t just a theater. It will also feature housing for up to 25. Framing on these rooms began this week while demo in the lobby and theater continued.
During the last week of December, our construction crew removed the original slab in the future theater. This not only created the foundation for a new, level floor but also provided us the opportunity to dig holes for the vertical supports needed for our new catwalk system.
In addition, demo and layout are underway on the first floor (lobby and dressing rooms) and second floor (residencies).
We are excited to announce that LUMBERYARD's construction site preparation is now complete. The project is moving forward ahead of schedule and our facility will be ready for use by late 2018!
We are partnering with Vermont-based PC Construction, with offices in Poughkeepsie, on the effort to transform the former Dunn Builders Supply into a world-class performance and residence space. The location will serve artists by providing them technical support and residencies before a national or New York premiere.
"The addition of a world-class performing arts center in the Catskills is a great step forward and when LUMBERYARD opens in 2018, visitors will also explore the culture and heritage of the Capital Region and drive increased tourism to the area," said Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Howard Zemsky.
We are happy to report that interior demolition and asbestos abate-ment of LUMBERYARD’s main building are underway and interior construction is scheduled to begin in November 2017.
This marks significant progress in PHASE I of building our performing arts campus.
The main LUMBERYARD building on Water Street will house our state-of-the-art 5,000 square-foot flexible theater space, artist resi-dences, dressing rooms and practice spaces.
We are thrilled to move one step closer to building the LUMBER-YARD campus, supporting economic and cultural growth in the Catskill area in addition to offering a higher level of support for artists and audiences alike.
LUMBERYARD is excited to announce that San Francis-co-based RSF Social Finance has provided LUMBERYARD with a $5 million loan towards construction of the LUMBERYARD Contempo-rary Performing Arts Catskill campus.
RSF’s support will help us reach our goals to increase economic growth and tourism in Catskill, while also providing much-needed residency space and time for artists.
