Acclaimed performers to open LUMBERYARD’s new site

Celebrated performers will be among the first that Catskill residents see at our Water Street site when we officially open this summer.

Join us at LUMBERYARD:

  • A show featuring Savion Glover, whom The New Yorker describes as the ‘greatest of all time’, and drummer Marcus Gilmore will also be at LUMBERYARD on Aug. 31.

Glover and Gilmore’s performance is the final of eight that make up our inaugural season, which kicks off June 28.

While construction of our space continues, partner venues in the Catskill area are hosting some LUMBERYARD-sponsored performances as well.

Complete details of LUMBERYARD’s summer season

Speaking today to the New York Times, Executive and Artistic Director Adrienne Willis described LUMBERYARD’s approach in selecting a range of artists for LUMBERYARD’s inaugural season.

“We’re always looking for work that’s challenging for the artists, for the art form and for our audience,” she said.

“Going into a new market and new area we don’t know much about our new audience — we know it’s a diverse audience of residents, second homeowners and visitors — so we wanted to make sure for our first season we gave a very broad spectrum of contemporary American work.”

Upcoming performances include:

  1. Urban Bush Women’s SCAT!, June 28- July 1 at Helsinki.
  2. STREB Extreme Action Company’s SEA (Singular Extreme Actions), July 6-8 at LUMBERYARD.
  3. Bridgman | Packer Dance’s TRUCK, July 13-14 at LYMBERYARD.
  4. d. Sabela grimes’ newest work, July 27-29 at  Bridge Street Theatre.
  5. Jodi Melnick’s One of Sixty-Five Thousand Gestures/NEW BODIES, Aug. 3-5 at Hudson Hall.
  6. John Jasperse’s Freedom, Aug. 17-19 at Hudson Hall.
  7. Ishmael Houston-Jones’ Variations on Themes from Lost and Found: Scenes from a Life and Other Works by John Bernd, Aug, 24-26 at Hudson Hall.
  8. Savion Glover and Marcus Gilmore will join forces Aug. 31-Sept. 1st at LUMBERYARD.

With the roof of our main building being raised, we’re grateful for your continued enthusiasm for our launch.

You’ve generously donated your time and resources to our campaigns, celebrations, and programs.

We’re especially grateful to Greene County youngest residents who make up our Young Performers Group.

Watching students hone their performance skills reminds us how crucial arts programming is to cultivating Catskill’s vibrancy.
