Annual NYC event signals beginning of summer for city’s creative scene

New York’s annual Met Gala last night celebrated the who’s-who of creative arts.

Today, we’re gawking at some of the evening’s best styles, drawing inspiration for each guest’s efforts as well as the teams that we imagined helped assemble their looks.

What goes into a look

We’re lucky to work each day with artists. We know well how much work goes into their perfecting and presenting memorable performances.

With LUMBERYARD’s support, artists have access to:

  • Dramaturg Melanie George consults with artists, offering outside perspective on how the work is coming together.
  • A team of experienced technical wizards to assist with the creation and function of the sets artists envision.
  • Financial support, including funds earmarked for costume design – when they’re an aspect of performance the artist deems central.

Check out our gallery below, honoring those whose work we have continued admiring long after their appearances on our stage.

The beginning of summer 2018

The Met Gala, which opens the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit, is the unofficial beginning of summer for NYC’s creative arts scene.

We’re looking forward to enjoying the richness of performances, exhibits and parties on offer throughout the city and the state each summer.

Consider adding some of the works LUMBERYARD is this summer presenting throughout the Hudson Valley.

Tickets are available here.

We’re confident that our opening season is the beginning of something great.
