World premiere concludes LUMBERYARD in the City Festival

LUMBERYARD audiences were the first in the world to see a new performance by Dana Reitz, who last night debuted Latitude.

The world premiere drew many from New York City’s dance community keen to see new work from Reitz, a choreographer, dancer and visual artist known for pioneering the use of light as her physical partner.

Latitude was the final of three performances by trailblazers LUMBERYARD’s Artistic Director, Adrienne Willis, named for its second annual Festival.

“We celebrate the careers of these three formidable women artists who have forged creative paths in melding transcultural dance practices; movement, light, and sound; and the personal and the political,” she said.

“At a time when, across fields, women’s critical innovations are being given their due, we are honored to showcase artists like these artists whose contributions to contemporary performance are widespread and innumerable.”

Latitude will be shown through Feb.11. It follows Robbie McCauley’s NYC premiere of Sugar and Kei Takei’ U.S. premiere of Bamboo Forest and NYC premiere of Light Part 8.

Ticket for Reitz’s final two performances of Latitude are available here.

LUMBERYARD In the City Festival is supported by awards from the National Endowment for the Arts and from the Mertz Gilmore Foundation. It’s also made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
