Bringing more and more acclaimed artists to Catskill, NY

LUMBERYARD’s residencies fill a void in American performance. Our new Catskill, NY facility is one of the only places in the world that supports artists through the most crucial phase in their creative process—the integration of the final technical and design elements into their productions prior to a NYC premiere.

Our acclaimed Tech Week residency program offers artists and their companies unrestricted theater access, a development fee, dedicated use of LUMBERYARD’s production staff, equipment and production materials, photo/video documentation, housing, and meals.

Each LUMBERYARD Tech Week residency — which has benefitted nearly 80 leading American performing arts companies since its creation in 2011— concludes with public work-in-progress showings or performances for Hudson Valley audiences.

Of this summer’s 6 companies in residence, Executive & Artistic Director Adrienne Willis says, “We’re thrilled to welcome this truly stellar lineup of artists and to give them the resources they need to fully realize their visions. The fact that these are some of the most exciting and accomplished makers of contemporary performance is evidence that the support LUMBERYARD provides is in high demand, even at the top of the field.”

Art ain’t cheap

The integration of technology and design is an expensive undertaking. LUMBERYARD is proud to support this vital stage of the creative process, ensuring that new work is audience-ready, by providing essential resources to artists. LUMBERYARD’s programming is made possible by public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as from individual donors and private foundations.

LUMBERYARD also thanks its season sponsors and partners, Columbia Memorial Health and Radio Woodstock 100.1 WDST, for their support of the Summer 2019 season.
