LUMBERYARD’s inaugural Hudson Valley season wows crowds

Our first season in Hudson Valley kicked off this weekend with a rousing performance by Urban Bush Women winning the hearts of sold out crowds.

“Thank you for helping LUMBERYARD reach this milestone,”Executive and Artistic Director Adrienne Willis told the audience.

“It takes the work of many, many people to be able to share cutting edge performance. We’re grateful to communities throughout the Hudson Valley for coming together – time and again – in support of the arts.”

Presented Friday through Sunday, Scat! each night wowed more than 120 guests.

LUMBERYARD’s Under Construction Festival

Scat! is the first of eight performances LUMBERYARD is presenting throughout the Hudson Valley, this summer.

While we finish building our new facility in Catskill, N.Y., some shows will be at neighboring venues Helsinki Hudson and Hudson Hall.

Our season will culminate with a performance by Savion Glover at the grand opening of our new theatre on Water St.

Tickets for all upcoming Festival shows are available here.

We’re grateful to Columbia Memorial Health, Whitecliff Vineyard and Rip Van Winkle Brewery whose generous support is helping make this Festival possible.

It Takes a Valley: Summer fundraising

With your help, LUMBERYARD can keep bringing world class performance to the Hudson Valley, while also offering artists time, space, technical and creative support to fine-tune their works before they premiere on America’s leading stages.

Throughout summer 2018, we’re continuing to raise funds in support of this mission.

Our determination is matched by the Hudson Valley’s palpable energy, which has been infectious throughout the construction process.

The Columbia and Greene County communities have been true partners, offering encouragement and assistance and making much-needed donations to our Asbestos Angels and Raise Our Roof campaigns.

About Urban Bush Women

Scat! is an impassioned dance-driven musical.

Choreographer Jawole Willa Jo Zollar is known for delighting audiences with the unexpected by including a wide range of dance vocabularies in each of her pieces.

She founded Urban Bush Women as a performance ensemble dedicated to exploring the use of cultural expression as a catalyst for social change.

Scat! tells a love story through song, dance and storytelling. It is a powerful tale of one family and what happens when dreams encounter the realities of American life in the ’40s and ’50s.

It features an original jazz score performed live by a 5-piece band and two vocalists.

“The energy Urban Bush Women brings to its performances matches the Hudson Valley’s passion for arts,” Willis said.
