Our first year in Catskill, N.Y.: Why 2016 made us happy

Jodi Melnick

LUMBERYARD’s first year in Catskill, N.Y. was awesome.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it so.

Your sense of fun

We’re grateful to those who attended our Groundbreaking Celebration and our End of Summer Shindig.

These celebrations gave us the chance to meet new people and share some of the performances we’ll be bringing to Catskill, N.Y. when we open in 2018.

Musicians from The Wiyos and Buckeye Rooster added delight.

We enjoyed each morsel of food on offer including appetizers from caterer Talbot & Arding as well as delicious snacks from Pippy’s and Cue BBQ food trucks, Banana Moon Baking, New York Restaurant and Verdigris Tea & Chocolate.

Cheers to Cave Mountain Brewing Co. and Crossroads Brewing Co. for sharing your refreshments with our guests

Your generosity

We’ve been amazed by your generosity and willingness to help us learn the neighbourhood.

You’ve shared your stories with us, introduced us to your neighbours, invited us into your homes, businesses and to your own events. Thank you!

Guests at our events enjoyed the gifts which many businesses from Catskill’s Main Street and from across the Hudson Valley donated to our raffles.

Our special thanks goes to contributors:

Your creativity

We’re inspired by the breadth and calibre of creative work taking place in Catskill, N.Y.

From Bridge St. Theatre to the pursuits underway at Catskill Makers Syndicate, Catskill Mill, Hudson Valley Dance Festival and Thomas Cole House, we’re surrounded by people making art their life’s work.

Since our arrival, Greene County Council for the Arts’ pivotal role fostering and celebrating creativity within the community has been obvious.

Your vision

We chose Catskill, N.Y. as the site for our new space because we shared your dream of building a creative community.

We believe creativity flourishes here because of the combined support it enjoys from Catskill, N.Y. residents, local and regional government leaders as well as those in the non-profit sector.

The Greene County Chamber of Commerce, Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, The Village of Catskill, The Bank of Greene County, The Town of Catskill, Cultivate Catskill and The Catskill Community Center have been essential to the realization of our shared vision.

Thank you Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, Lt. Gov Kathy Hochul, Assemblyman Peter Lopez and Senator George A. Amedore Jr. for your leadership helping make arts an engine for regional development.

Next year will be even better

Thank you for making this year so memorable.

We consider our success in 2016 an indication of how 2017 will unfold.

Stay tuned to this space for updates on what we have planned.
