Experience

Catskill, N.Y. is an ideal locale from which to launch Hudson Paddles because Catskill Creek’s calmer waters suit beginner and intermediate level paddlers.

“LUMBERYARD’s location, just before Bridge St. in Catskill, N.Y., is really nice,” Jim says. “Beginners can start from the dock and go upstream where it’s almost like a private lake.”

More experienced paddlers can easily venture toward Hudson River which tends to have more challenging terrain with a current and boat traffic.

Safety first

Jim, TJ and their 4-person team of instructors are certified stand-up paddle yoga instructors.

They each have decades of experience on the water.

About Hudson Paddles

Founders Jim and TJ are lifelong athletes.

They met about 15 years ago when Jim participated in a yoga class that TJ was teaching.

When the Hudson, N.Y.-based spa that TJ and his wife, Melinda, founded, Bodhi Holistic Spa and Yoga, started becoming popular, he and Jim were in the midst of also completing yoga training with the same New York City-based instructor.

Their friendship grew throughout the training and on their frequent trips to the city for class.

“Yoga was a departure point,” TJ says. “Our lifestyles of health and wellness are in line with each other.”
